Let him seek liberation with the help of his Highest Self, and never disgrace his own Self. For that Self is his only friend; yet it can also be his enemy.

Understanding this verse

Simple meaning

Krishna says: lift yourself up by your own effort and don't put yourself down. Your own mind can be your best friend or your worst enemy.

In real life

A student who keeps calling himself "stupid" changes his self-talk to "I haven't learned this yet." His motivation and grades improve.

A woman restarting her career after a break stops waiting for someone to rescue her and enrols in a course herself.

Try this today: Catch one negative thing you say to yourself today and rewrite it the way a good friend would say it.
