Understanding this verse

Simple meaning

Krishna tells Arjuna to see pleasure and pain, gain and loss, victory and defeat as equal, and then to do what must be done. When you stop being ruled by the outcome, you can act cleanly and without guilt.

In real life

An athlete going into a final reminds herself that winning or losing doesn't change her worth. She plays freer and better.

A job-seeker attends interviews with the attitude "I'll do my best and accept the result", and the pressure that used to make him freeze is gone.

Try this today: Before a stressful event, say to yourself: "Win or lose, I'll give this my full effort."
